Charlefor is a French-Canadian trapper in 1787, now living in southern Louisiana Territory, a region that would one day become the states of Missouri and Arkansas. The mighty Osage tribe have claimed this land as their own for many centuries. On the way to their summer hunting grounds they begin to encounter Europeans, primarily the British and French. At this time in history, the territory is also claimed by Spain. Charlefor is considered a blood brother of the Osage. He convinces the Spanish to ally with the Osage to force the British out, and to derail any plans that the French and Americans may have to also control these lands
